In order to help make the trails of Roxborough more accessible for all visitors regardless of age or ability level, Roxborough State Park acquired the original Rox Ride with support from Hewlett Packard and the Foundation for Colorado State Parks in 1988. This fully equipped, multi-row golf cart provided Roxborough the ability to drive visitors down the Fountain Valley Trail, allowing us to bring visitors who would not be otherwise able to hike down the trail. The Friends of Roxborough State Park has provided maintenance support for the Ride including oil, batteries, parts, etc to keep the Ride running smoothly.
In 2013, the Friends of Roxborough State Park helped in acquiring a new and improved Rox Ride with support from area business Lockheed Martin. This new ride helps the park continue to provide guided tours of the Fountain Valley Trail and the beautiful rock formations along the route. The Friends of Roxborough State Park continue to provide maintenance for this important experience!
